The third-best team of Men’s PGNiG Superleague is coming to Lubin. Zagłębie handballers will clash with Azoty Puławy, one of the candidates to a medal this season.
For Paweł Noch’s and Adrian Anuszewski’s team, this will be the third ranked game this year. Earlier, in a postponed game, Lubin had to accept Zabrze’s superiority. On Sunday, Zagłębie played against Orlen Wisła Płock in the Poland Cup. It was not an easy victory for the favorite, Wisła, and finally, Zagłębie lost only by two goals. It was a real fight and all players put a lot of heart into it, which is a good sign before the game against Azoty on Wednesday.
Azoty come to Lubin as favorites, as can be deduced from the league table. In the Orange group, Azoty rank second (after Orlen Wisła Płock) with 33 points (26 more than Zagłębie). In the overall standings in the Men’s PGNiG Superleague, Azoty are third after Vive Kielce and Orlen Wisła Płock.
On the court of the Regional Sports Center in Lubin, handball fans will get a chance to cheer players including Michał Kubisztal, Bartosz Jurecki, Przemysław Krajewski and Nikola Prce.
Zagłębie have been waiting long for a win against Azoty. Their last victory was on April 5, 2011. What is interesting, most games were very fierce and often ended in draws. In the last eleven last games between Lubin and Puławy, five were drawn.
